Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation
has anastasia done good again?
Stick foundations are becoming so popular lately, one of the most raved about being the Make Up Forever HD stick foundation. As I have the original Make Up Forever HD foundation, and still not overly impressed with it, I thought I'd steer away from Make Up Forever and go for Anastasia. Anastasia Beverly Hills in my experience never lets me down!
I ordered quite a few products from ABH website, and as the stick foundation was only $25, which exchanges to £19.99 in GBP, so it wasn't a huge dent on my already huge order haha! I got the shade Cool Beige which matches my natural skin almost perfectly. It is definitely too light for when I have fake tanned, but I always need a foundation for when I'm not wearing any. I will say that the shade I got is quite true to colour and is rather cool on the skin. I do tend to go for a more yellow based foundation, but I don't think this is a major flaw in the product... more of a flaw in my choice.
On first application, the product almost dragged my dry skin up and made it quite flaky, and didn't seem to sit well on the skin. It didn't feel as creamy as I was expecting, it was quite the opposite and quite drying.
I persevered with the product, and applied my first layer of foundation. I used a flat top kabuki to pat in, and blend out the product which worked well with the formula. However, after my first layer, my face looked really patchy and uneven. I applied another full layer of foundation, which ave me a much more full coverage and even coverage. The coverage is extremely good from this foundation, it just takes more product and longer time to achieve it. it is a completely matte finish, but somehow still says glowy around the cheekbones which is refreshing. The foundation feels really comfortable on the skin, but if you're one of those who doesn't like the feel of a thick base, this foundation definitely isn't for you.
I do believe this foundation was targeted for the oilier skin type, as I think if you have dry skin this would really aggravate your flakiness and accentuate the dry patches as it initially did to me. But, I think with a really moisturising base such as MAC Strobe Cream this product would work a lot better. Regardless of this, I can't deny that my face didn't look flawless after application, it's just that it's a lot harder to achieve this and requires more effort than liquid foundations.
What do you all think about Stick Foundations? I think I need to try a few more to make my mind up, liquid foundations are just soooo quick and easy! Comment below your experience with stick foundations!
