My Lip Filler Experience
i finally took the plunge...
Ever since I was about 15/6 years old, there was only ever one main feature on my face that I was really insecure about and unhappy with... this was my lips. The lips/mouth area in general is such a pivotal part of the face, and before long I found myself obsessing over how my mouth and lips moved when I spoke, and how the lips sat when I was just resting- just generally really insecure about that part of my face. It troubled me for years, as my top lip didn't have much to it, and didn't sit right when my lips were just resting... I felt like I constantly had to move my mouth/lips to make them sit comfortably on top of one another.
From the age of 16, I vowed that I would get lip injections/fillers as soon as I turned 18. On turning 18, I didn't feel like I NEEDED them right at that very minute and so I held out to find the right time. Whenever I'd plan to book in with an aesthetics clinic, I found myself hesitating and stopping what I was doing, whether I was subconsciously worried about the procedure or just wasn't ready, I don't know. But, with my new resolutions for 2017 wanting to focus on myself and making ME happy, I finally felt ready to go for it and booked in for lip injections.
Prior to booking my procedure, I did my research and followed on Instagram, many clinics and aesthetic clinicians who offered lip augmentation, to see who I felt was more experienced, and gave the results I was hoping for. I came across @mcr_aesthetics on Instagram, who is an aesthetic practitioner from Manchester, offering lip augmentation. I absolutely loved her page, and it just so happened that she did guest work, weekly, in some Liverpool salons. This was perfect for me, right on my door step and a great person to put my trust in, with my face.
On arrival to the salon, the girl who performed my procedure was absolutely lovely and made me feel really at ease as it was my first time, and I had some first time nerves. She applied the numbing cream, which to me, was the WORST part about the whole procedure. My mouth felt like it was falling off and almost as if I didn't actually have a face?! It was so strange. I then informed her that I wanted to go for 1ml of filler. The usual lowest dose, is 0.5ml for subtle results, but I wanted a noticeable result in my lips due to how long I'd put the procedure off for, so I took the plunge and got 1ml.
The upper lip of mine was where most of the work needed doing, there wasn't much to it if I'm being honest, it seemed almost hollow, and really thin. It even made my lower lip look large due to the comparison, but it was definitely not large. So, she began the procedure, focusing mainly on creating a fuller upper lip and a more defined vermillion border (outer edge) as well as the cupid's bow. I'd say about 0.7ml was focused in my upper lip, with the remaining 0.3ml used in the lower lip to balance out size and shape. I'm not really that squeamish when it comes to needles, so the needle part didn't bother me. On insertion, the most I could feel was a small scratch if that. When the actual filler (Teosyal in my case) was injected into my lip, there was slight sharp, niggling tingles felt. It was sort of like strong pins and needles, in a tiny portion of my lip. This happened everytime the product was injected, but it was not at all painful as it is over within a second or two. Before I knew it, the procedure was over and my new lips were all ready for me to go!
I have inserted several pictures of my lips developing from straight after the procedure, to their current state so don't forget to take a look at them above. It has now been 5 days since I had the fillers, and as you can see from the photos I have had the slightest bit of bruising around the most concentrated areas of the lip, as well as a small bruise above my lip. There has been no swelling to the lips, and they're not painful at all. They're still quite tight/stiff, but this eases up in the next few days!
I couldn't believe how fast it took to achieve such amazing lips, and I'm so thankful for the lady who done them for me as she was so nice and gave me advice, and talked me through the procedure so I felt involved and knew what was going on, which I was really grateful for. I must say, I am absolutely over the moon with my new lips. They're still quite a subtle change to other people, but to me, it is a huge difference and has completely changed my whole face. I couldn't be happier with the result, and my confidence has grew 10 fold in the matter of days. If I was to ever get more lip fillers when the product eventually degrades (usually 6-8 months) I would definitely go back to @mcr_aesthetics and I'd highly recommend her service to anybody living in the North West area!
Has anybody else undergone any non-surgical treatments such as lip augmentation? If so, what was your experience like? I love hearing about other people's opinion, so if you have any comments don't forget to leave them in the comments below!
