September Glossy Box
the editor's choice
As you all may know, I’m completely obsessed with Glossy Box. I’m always raving on my social media platforms, and I’ve previously written a blog post and had a GIVEAWAY involving GB. I’ll never get bored of receiving high end makeup and skincare products every month, never! I am forever seeing new and different beauty products all over the web, and thinking ‘I’d love to try that!’ but never actually going out of my way to purchase it. That’s why I love GB so much because it contains products that I’d never dream of buying for myself, but then I fall in love with them.
I was super excited for my September box due to the new season rolling in. There’s nothing better than cold mornings and dark nights, so I knew the GB had to contain some Autumnal must-haves, and it didn’t disappoint!
First in my Glossy Box was the Rodial Smokey Eye Pen. I’d never actually heard of Rodial until now, but after some research I’ve realised how successful a beauty company it is… it is stocked as Selfridges! This pencil alone, is £17 so I’m over the moon I received the full size in my GB. Now, we all know there’s nothing better than a dark smokey eye to complement the cold weather, so I thought this was perfect. I love smoked out pencil for eyeliner, so on trying this out, I slapped on some cellotape and created a crisp winged eyeliner, and then smudged it up into the crease using a small shader brush to create that smokey look, blending it out with some warm browns (picture above). The formula is so soft and creamy, unlike many hard and waxy ones I’ve experienced before. This is definitely one of my faves of the GB this month, and I’ll keep using it!
Next up, was the FAMOUS Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. This mascara is raved about by beauty gurus all over the world, so I couldn't wait to try it. It claims to thicken and lengthen lashes, which it definitely lives up to. The sample size in my GB is the waterproof version, which although it is a nightmare to remove, it actually seems to retain the curl on the lashes a lot longer for me... it really is a true black, so it gives the most perfect dark definition to the eye. I've already ordered my full size version!
The next product that graced my Glossy Box was the GOSH Long Lasting Lip Marker in the shade 005 Soft Rose. I will be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of lip stains. I purchased a Rimmel one once, and I did really hate it. Pigment in a lip product is a necessity for me, and that's not something that lip stains aim to achieve... but I gave this a go! This was my first ever GOSH product, and I was actually quite surprised by it. The formula is very silky and hydrating on the lips, and had sufficient pigment to stain the lips. I actually loved the way my lips turned out after using this, but what I will say is try and avoid a lip liner... or if that's not possible, then a really nude nude liner. Just because the lip stain is so sheer, using a block line of liner stands out way too much and the stain won't really blend it well so I used the tip of the marker to line my lips. I'm glad I like this... it is perfect for a pop of colour on a natural makeup look.
4th in my GB was the Revlon Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat, which is actually formulated with a Diamond Flex Technology. We all know the struggle of getting perfectly painted nails... and chipping them 2 seconds later, am I right?! I usually stick to a cheap clear nail varnish as a top coat, which makes them look a lot shinier (and thicker) but does absolutely nothing for the longevity of my nail varnish. Revlon's top coat is designed with the ability to protect against chips, keeping your nails perfect for a lot longer than 2 seconds... and with a salon-like shine too. Every nail-obsessed girl needs this!
5th and finally, I received the Hydro Face Mask by the amazing Vitamasques. This is by the far one of the biggest Instagram trends in the past few months, so when GB gave me one, I screamed with joy. The Hydro Gel technology, is Korean inspired, and they are packed with heavy moisture. The gel mask comes in two parts, and with a bit of snipping here and there, should fit perfectly over your face covering its entirety. The mask infuses your skin with all of its hydration and moisture, leaving it hydrated for a claimed '120 hours'... yes that is 5 days! I can honestly say this mask is so therapeutic, my skin felt like I'd had a deep cleanse facial after using it and you can feel the difference in your skin immediately. I LOVE these masks, I'm gonna introduce them into my skin care routine!
There it is guys, another box of beauty joy for me to play around with and find my new favourite things... My October box has actually already arrived quite early, so that'll be uploaded in the next couple of blog posts too. Glossy Box OVERLOAD! Has anybody else tried Glossy Box's service? What do you think?
