L'Oreal Liquid Glow Illuminators
true match glow
L'Oreal is without doubt my favourite drug store brand, but besides the Lumi Magique Base Primer, there is not many other highlighting products available from the brand. Highlighting has become, in the last couple of years, a staple in any makeup look... and is raved about time and time again, as more people are glowing from the Gods.
I will admit, I was always a powder highlight type of girl... I loved the matte look so liquid illuminators never appealed to me, as I thought glow and matte weren't achievable together. In fact, they are achievable, and matte and glowy products produce the most gorgeous combination ever.
So last week I was in my local boots store and decided to look for Angel Veil by NYX… to much disappoint it was sold out, and has been for weeks now. As I wandered over to the beautiful L’Oreal stand, I thought I may as well pick a lipstick up and a new foundation… until I saw these! Two different shades of liquid illuminator. I couldn’t believe it, there was even compact powder highlighters too. I got way too excited over the liquid versions that I ran to the till without grabbing the powders, but god these are good.
The intensity of the illuminators is ridiculous, that much so that it actually scared me just looking at them… but I slapped them on my face anyway. I tried the pink shade first, in 301.R Icy Glow. From the swatches above, this is the bottom one, so as you can see it has a real champagne pink undertone, with almost glitter running through. I apply these primers all over my face, because the more glow the better right? I love the pink shade when I’m wearing a more natural look because it’s a bit more subtle than the gold shade, and I go over with my Charlotte Tilbury Dreamy Glow highlighter which creates a true girly look.
The gold shade on the other hand, is a lot warmer... this is 101.D Golden Glow. This is a lot more warm and bronze, so I feel like it shows up on the skin a lot more (especially with paler skin tones). This illuminator is perfect for creating a bronzy look. Bronzer applies beautifully on top of this and it just enhances the bronzer through the skin which I love. You can even use the two shades together to create more of a rose gold base, which just looks stunning with any makeup look… I usually do this for nights out for the most glowing and intense effect.
The formula of these is hard to describe, its almost like a dry liquid. So it's a creamy liquid on pumping but needs blending in really fast as it dries ultra-quick. Although this is actually quite useful because when it does dry, it doesn't budge all night which is amazing. It doesn't move around the face when applying anything over the top, it doesn't transfer on to hands and it doesn't leave the skin feeling wet or greasy which a lot of primer/illuminating products do. This just leaves the perfect base and a beautiful shimmery glow underneath the skin, which shines through any makeup.
I'd recommend these products to everyone and anyone for £6.99 for 30ml, they're such a bargain and L'Oreal have done absolutely amazing to create these and I'd love to see a bigger range of shades... I’m even more excited to try the powder versions!
